Spring FTW!
Journal Entry: Sun Mar 9, 2008, 7:24 PM
I was playing Riven today, because I'm cool and old school like that, and I got really nostalgic because the main world of Riven is this really beautiful kind of sub-tropic area with blue water and giant trees and pleiosaurs. It's frigging awesome! Anyway, there were all these birds singing, and it reminded me of waking up in the late spring/early summer for school, and being able to have the window open without the fan because it's not gotten quite that hot yet. Ah...
The only good thing I can say about Rhode Island is that sometimes I get that wet-spring-ish smell in the air (perhaps you know what I'm talking about) and it makes me kind of happy (also when it smells like the ocean, which you think would happen a lot because I'm ON the ocean, but it really doesn't). But most of the time I hate it because it's frigging March and there should be about ten feet of snow. (Okay, maybe not ten feet, but I'm used to being pampered by Vermont weather and I miss it, dammit!)
A sudden thought: I should make a paper chain counting down the days until I leave Rhode Island and can continue living in Vermont like a normal person. And then a separate chain counting down the days until I move to Maine. YES.
But back to my nostalgic thoughts about spring/summer, I'm kind of depressed because this summer definitely won't be like last summer. Last summer, I was supposed to be in Ireland, but that fell through (damn the Irish gov't!), but it turned out okay anyway because I was mostly unemployed (only working when called, basically), which meant that I was free to spend most of my time laying outside and, for the first time ever, got darker than most of my friends (this is a major accomplishment in my life, because I am Finnish and pretty much do not tan). But more than just being tan, it was a wonderful, relaxing time, and I won't be able to have that this year. (I know, I really shouldn't complain, but hey, I'm really hedonistic. XD)
As of Friday, I have a job working at an upscale girls' summer camp in Harrison, Maine, so I basically get a month off of school (which is nothing to sneer at, I suppose), then Maine for two months, back to Vermont for about a week, and then back to Maine for the next six or seven moths. Wow. That's a lot of Maine. XD
This is the longest journal I've written in a long, long time.
(On a side note, I didn't realize how many journals I've done in the past...I'm not really one for doing journals, but when I'm making this one right here, there's a whole list of the old ones right on the side o'er there, and I kinda want to go back and read them because some of them have crazy titles. I'll probably disappointed when I do go and read them, though.)

Usually you just get a good idea and then need a swift kick in the butt. Sometimes it's the other way around.
